Mrs. Kaye Baker-Marsh

My name is Kaye Baker-Marsh or "Miss Kaye" as most of the students call me. I am the Physical Therapist at H. E. Corley Elementary. I work with students who have delays in their gross motor skills (such as walking, running, jumping, catching, throwing and kicking balls) so that they can access the school and join their friends in all of the activities around school.

I am a 1981 graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina following 2 years at the College of Charleston. I have almost always wanted to be a physical therapist! When I was about 10 years old, I saw the movie, Heidi with my best friend. In that movie, Heidi and her friend Peter help their friend Clara, who was in a wheelchair, walk again. I had found my calling-even though I did not know exactly what the name of it was. In high school I knew I wanted to go into a medical profession and did some research and found out that physical therapists are the professionals who help people walk. And then I knew exactly what I wanted to do!

I worked in private practice for 13 years before joining Lexington 5 schools in 1995. At the time, my sons were also in school here so it was a perfect fit. They are now grown but I still love the excitement when a child figures out how to do something for the first time! I have been the therapist at H. E. Corley for my entire career in the district. At one time I was the ONLY physical therapist in the whole district so I also traveled to all of the other schools. Now I just serve H. E. Corley as well as serving as the Lead Therapist over all of the Occupational and Physical Therapist in the district. But most of all, I love to see the smiles of my students when they walk or jump or catch a ball for the first time!
