BA Child and Family Studies: Child Life Columbia College MAT Early Childhood Converse College
I am thrilled to be teaching the 4K Excel program at River Springs Elementary School for the third year. I have many fond memories from my time at RSES, and look forward to the memories that will be made during this school year!
I grew up in this area, and attended Lexington-Richland 5 schools from elementary school to high school (Go Foxes)! I am a graduate of Columbia College, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Family Studies with an emphasis in Child Life. I am also a graduate of Converse College where I received a Master of Arts in Teaching: Early Childhood Education.
I have had numerous experiences working with children in a variety of settings. I have taught dance, completed an internship as a Child Life Specialist at a local hospital, and worked in a preschool before I realized that I was meant to be in an elementary school classroom. I love working with children and seeing the progress they make throughout the school year. One of my favorite things about teaching is when the "light bulb" goes off, and my students understand a skill or concept that has been taught.
I have been married to my husband, Furman, for almost 6 years. We have a son, Bazen, and two dachshunds, Polly (10) and Bella (9). When I’m not at school, I like to spend my free time with my family and our dogs. I also enjoy collecting pens.
I am looking forward to this school year! We will make many memories together in B103 and grow together throughout the year.
