Degrees and Certifications:
B.A. Early Childhood Education, University of South Carolina Certification in Elementary Education
Welcome Terrific Sea Turtles!
My name is Amanda Hilgert and this will be my third year teaching at CES! This year I will be team teaching with Mr. Martin. He will be the coolest Math and Science teacher! While I am so excited to dive into Social Studies and Language Arts which includes: reading, writing, grammar, handwriting. I am a proud graduate of the Lexington/Richland District 5 schools, and I am grateful for the opportunity to teach in my home district. I graduated with Leadership Distinction from the University of South Carolina in the spring of 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education as well as a certification in Elementary Education.
I believe children learn best when they feel safe and loved, and I strive to learn as much as I can about my students' interests and experiences in order to incorporate them into instruction. A caring community in the classroom is very important to me! My mother, father and sister (soon to be graduate of USC) are the most important people in my life and have greatly shaped my belief in a loving classroom and school community. I am also excited to extend ownershipto my students over their rigorous learning, flexible environment, and the community that we will build together!
I love being involved in your child's lives outside of school. Seeing their passion for sports, music, games and other extra curricular activities allows me to incorporate more meaningful experiences in the classroom. If invited to soccer games, ballet recitals, baseball games, swim meets, etc. I will be there!
I am excited for another year of growing, learning and playing together at CES. (:
