Degrees and Certifications:

B.S. Conservation Biology from BYU Gifted and Talented Endorsement

Mrs. Cari Thompson

My name is Cari Thompson and I have been teaching science in Lexington Richland Five middle schools since 2013. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Conservation Biology from Brigham Young University. In my early years, I worked for the Division of Wildlife Resources and the Forest Service. After raising my children for 12 years, I decided to enter the education field where I could share my love of science with a new generation of learners. I taught 6th grade science at Chapin Middle for two years, 7th grade science at Irmo Middle for two years, and I am currently teaching 8th grade science at Dutch Fork Middle School.

I hold a certification in Science for the middle level and I am considered "Highly Qualified" by the State of South Carolina. I also hold a "Gifted and Talented" endorsement. I will earn my Masters in Instructional Technology in April of 2021.

I have been married to my best friend for 23 years and we have four children. I have one son and three daughters. In addition, I have a yellow lab named Gronk. In my free time, I enjoy traveling with my family, SCUBA diving, bird watching, and laying on a beach with a good book.
