Mrs. Cari Thompson
My name is Cari Thompson and I have been teaching science in Lexington Richland Five middle schools since 2013. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Conservation Biology from Brigham Young University and a M. Ed. in Instructional Technology from Coastal Carolina University. In my early years, I worked for the Division of Wildlife Resources and the Forest Service. After raising my children for 12 years, I decided to enter the education field where I could share my love of science with a new generation of learners. Before teaching 8th grade science at Dutch fork Middle School, I taught 6th grade science at Chapin Middle and 7th grade science at Irmo Middle. Within the classroom, my goal is to make science relevant by connecting student learning to real world events.
I hold a certification in Science for the middle level and I am considered "Highly Qualified" by the State of South Carolina. I also hold a "Gifted and Talented" endorsement.
I have been married to my best friend for 23 years and we have four children. I have one son and three daughters. In addition, I have a yellow lab named Gronk. In my free time, I enjoy traveling with my family, SCUBA diving, bird watching, and laying on a beach with a good book.
