Special Education

Mrs. Jessie Patterson

I'm one of the resource teachers at Seven Oaks and I am thrilled to teach your child! I teach 4K-5th grade students who qualify to receive special education services in reading, writing, math, behavior skills, and/or social-emotional skills. Prior to joining the SOESMM family in 2021, I taught special education students in self-contained classes for four years at Harbison West Elementary School (HWES) and one year in Flexible Innovative Virtual Education (FIVE). I am also the Webmaster and Good News Ambassador at Seven Oaks; in these roles, I manage the school's website, social media accounts, and weekly newsletter.

My husband and I live in Lexington with our dog and cat. I studied Special Education at Columbia College but am an avid Clemson football fan. My other hobbies include reading, playing tennis, and walking my dog.

I have two important philosophies that I want to impart to my students: First, if you can read, you can learn anything. Second, we each have unique strengths and gifts that make us special. We all learn at different rates and in different ways. My challenge and joy as a teacher is to discover how each student learns and support them as they become active learners. As we focus on academics in my classroom, we also learn and practice character traits and strategies that make us better learners and friends. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve your child and have fun as he/she learns!

I have your child's best interests at heart and look forward to working with you to help your child be successful in school. Please feel free to call or email me with any questions, comments, or concerns.
