Ms. Yani Cordero

Hola! I'm Yani Cordero and I will be one of the new resource teachers at H.E. Corley. I am excited to be part of the H.E. Corley family and looking forward to meeting you all. I have been teaching for 12 years and love the rewarding feeling of empowering our students with the necessary tools to be successful learners. Excited to be a crocodile and for the amazing year ahead!

Here are some fun facts about me:

  • Half Cuban/Half Ukrainian
  • Lived in NY for 21 years, then relocated to Arizona and recently to Columbia, SC!
  • Love spending time outdoors when I am not in the classroom hiking, traveling and enjoying the lake with my SUP.
  • I am a bookworm! Love getting lost in a good book :)
  • Completed a Bachelor in Childhood Inclusive Education with a bilingual extension and a Masters in Childhood Literacy.
  • I have taught in Self-Contained classes, Resource and Intervention positions

As a special education teacher, I believe that if a child cannot learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn. Every child is unique and has the potential for greatness!

Mrs. Robin Lingle

Hi there!  I'm Robin Lingle and I am super excited to be teaching Learning Strategies at  H.E. Corley Elementary School!  This will be my 4th year as a Special Education Teacher and I cannot wait to get to know each and every one of you.  Here are a few fun facts about me!
  • I have a dual Bachelors degree in Psychology and Human/Community Services from Lenoir-Rhyne College (Go Bears!) and a M.A.T. (Masters of Arts in Teaching) in Special Education from the University of South Carolina.
  • I taught in Anderson, SC before becoming a Domestic Engineer (I have 2 kiddos. Alice is at DFMS and Oliver is at DFHS.)
  • My husband, Jay, and I have the sweetest Siberian Husky, named Nanook.  Nook for short.
  • We also have 3 cats and a quaker parrot that can say, "What?"
  • I thrive in the outdoors, especially SUPing on the lake/river. I also spend my free time listening to music, spending time with my family, and painting (by numbers.)
As a resource teacher, I have the amazing opportunity to work with students that learn differently.  I like to really get to know my students AND their families and believe that communication is key and embrace individualization of instruction.  I have no doubt that this is going to be an awesome year filled with learning, laughter, smiles, and growth.

Mrs. Jayme Powell - Assistant

Hey HEC!  I am so excited to be a crocodile this year.  I graduated for Coastal Carolina University with my PE degree. I was a PE teacher for 10 years, but now I have decided to go a different route this year. I know I will be working with some great kids.

I am married and we have 3 beautiful little girls and one big dog.  We love to play on the lake and go camping in our camper.   We also love just hanging out with friends and family.  We are a Tiger family and love to go to Clemson for games and fun weekends.  Go Tigers!!

I am excited about what this year will hold. I know it is going to be a great year.
