Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Kary Dufault

I have worked in public education at the elementary and middle school level for the past thirteen years.  I started my career as a school based mental health counselor at CrossRoads Middle School and went on to be the school social worker for CrossRoads Middle, H.E. Corley Elementary and Irmo Elementary.  I am excited to continue to work at Chapin Intermediate as the 5th grade school counselor.  I have a Masters in Social Work from California State University Sacramento.  I also have a Master’s of Science in Continuing Education in Guidance and School Counseling.  I am certified as a school counselor for K – 12.  Fifth graders are awesome!  Intermediate school is a time of transition and I am here to help navigate the twists and turns that go along with this journey.   I believe in a comprehensive school counseling program based on the American School Counseling Association mindsets that is preventative in nature and meets the needs of the students and families of our unique population that prepares all students for continued success and inspires a passion for learning and serving.
