Mrs. Johanna Mayes
I am honored and enthusiastic to be a Teacher at Spring Hill High School this year. This will be my 12th year teaching and I’m really looking forward to meeting all of my students and working with them.
I started teaching when I was still studying at the university back in 2005. After that, in 2008 when I earned my Bachelor degree from UPEL University Maracay-Venezuela I moved to China where I taught Spanish as a bilingual teacher to undergraduate students for several years as well as High School, middle and elementary. There, at the Tianjin Foreign Studies University for example, I did not only have the opportunity to teach Spanish but also to understand the differences in culture between my own values, attitudes and background from those of my Chinese students and colleagues from other countries.
Later in 2013, I came to United States to teach at WCS as a Spanish teacher and as an assistant to volleyball coach.
Now, for this school year 2018- 2019, i will be at Spring Hill High School and it will be my goal, to provide my students with a full energetic and meaningful Spanish classroom environment where they can feel safe and comfortable to express themselves and interact in the target language.
