Degrees and Certifications:

Barbara Lofurno

I am so excited to be teaching Four Year Old Kindergarten!!  I am an Air Force Brat and have lived in Massachusetts, Delaware, Maryland, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and even England! I graduated from Radford University in Virginia with an Elementary Education degree and a Concentration in Math and Special Education. At one point, I held a teaching certificate in the states of Virginia, North Carolina, and Delaware all at the same time. :)  I taught Fifth Grade and Fifth Grade Special Education prior to having my first child.  After having children, I continued to substitute teach while being a stay at home mom raising my four children.  When the time felt right, I returned to teaching to be able to come back to what I love. My heart is in teaching this age and seeing the progress they make throughout the year.  It is so rewarding to see the growth they make socially, emotionally, and academically.

I have been married for 24 years to my high school sweetheart. We have four children, three sons and one daughter.  Our oldest son is a Senior at USC studying Biomedical Engineering and plays trombone in the Carolina Band. Our daughter is a Freshman at USC and plays oboe in one of the ensembles as well as mellophone in the Carolina Band. Our third child is at Irmo High School and runs Track.  Our youngest is starting Irmo Middle and enjoys just being a kid!  I love to read in between school and being a mom. I love the mountains, and that is where our camping theme came from for our classroom.  I love what I do, and I love getting up and coming to school each day. These children make my heart happy!! Thank you for sharing them with me! Mrs. Green, our Instructional Assistant, and I look forward to a GREAT year!!
