Mrs. Erika Sanchez

My name is Erika Sánchez and this is my third year teaching Spanish at Chapin High School!

My family and I moved to South Carolina three summers ago, and we love it here! I have lived in various states and countries including New York, Texas, Maryland, Indiana, Missouri, Mexico, Spain and Germany.  Throughout my life, Spanish has opened many doors for me professionally and personally.  I earned my degree from Baylor University and I also studied at ITESM (el Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey) in Monterrey, Mexico.  Upon graduating, I worked in international business for 12 years before staying home with my children. Throughout the 12 years I worked daily with clients from all over the world; however, the draw to the classroom kept returning and honestly, the fulfillment and joy that comes from teaching is unparalleled to any other position I have experienced.

My goal as an educator is to connect students to Spanish languages and cultures by allowing them to tangibly connect their Spanish knowledge to real world contexts (e.g. professions, businesses, schools, communities). I am excited to be back and to see students face-to-face and virtually!
