Mrs. Amanda Brewer

Hi!  My name is Amanda Brewer and I am truly excited to be a part of the IES family!  I am looking forward to the upcoming year that will be full of adventure with learning and laughter!! I was born in Sumter, South Carolina and I consider South Carolina to be my home state even though I moved around to many places with my military family growing up.  I moved to Lexington-South Carolina in 2018 to be closer to family!!  I have been married for fifteen years and I have two little girls, a 6-year old and a 10-year old.

Education/Experience:

received my bachelor’s degree at USC-Aiken in Elementary Education and started my teaching career immediately after in Aiken County.  I furthered my education and earned my master’s degree in divergent learning at Columbia College. I have been teaching for a total of 15.5 years, 12.5 years at Aiken Elementary and this upcoming year will be my fourth year at IES!  I have previously taught all subjects in 4th, 5th, and AGP in both 4th and 5th.  I have received my Gifted & Talented (AGP) Certification.   I was blessed to be named Aiken Elementary's Teacher of the Year during the 2015-2016 school year.  Every day I am so thankful that I get to be surrounded by innovative, intelligent, and inspiring children and co-workers!

Hobbies:

I have always been involved in sports throughout my entire life and my favorite sports growing up were soccer, swimming, volleyball and dance.  I was fortunate to receive a soccer scholarship at USC-Aiken...where I later met my husband and started my family.  I cherish spending time with my family and friends, watching football at Death Valley...GO TIGERS, traveling, and participating in activities outdoors, such as: water/snow skiing, swimming, hiking, fishing, painting, and lounging on the beach.  When I am not spending time with my family and friends, I am focusing on my other passion in life...teaching!  I truly enjoy seeing the children's eyes light up when we are reading together, playing interactive games, or learning new material.  Coming along-side children and learning with them is something I look forward to everyday.  I am blessed to be able to not only watch the students grow academically, but I also enjoy learning many new things for myself from these amazing kids along the way!

Welcome!
