Mrs. Amy Elias
I have been involved in the field of education for the past 28 years. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master of Education Degree in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of South Carolina. I have also completed the required coursework to be certified in the following areas: Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Special Ed-Learning Disabilities and Special Ed-Early Childhood. Over the years, I have taught mostly part time in a variety of District Five Schools in various capacities and different age levels, as well as worked as a homebound teacher for special needs students. I have taught students in grades K-6, however, much of my experience has been working with preschoolers with special needs. This is my second year teaching in the preschool program, however, I am not new to the school as I worked at HWES from 2006-2011 as an itinerant teacher for the 4K Child Development Program. I am looking forward to working again with our wonderful preschoolers in the Learning to Learn Class. I will be working with the morning LTL group and sharing the classroom with Mrs. Beth Reily who will be working with the afternoon LTL students. Mrs. Rebecca and Mrs. Tina will also be working in both the am and pm classes. We are all looking forward to a great year. We believe that children learn best through play and real life experience and we will strive to provide an environment in which each child can grow and develop to their fullest potential.
Important Upcoming Dates and News:
Governor McMaster has extended the closing of all schools through the end of the current school year due to the COVID 19 pandemic. I have included all home learning activities distributed to this point on our classroom news page as well as some articles that may be helpful to you and your family members during this most difficult time.
I will continue to be available during my virtual office hours from 9am to 1pm M-F. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you want any clarification on any of the activities that we have suggested for home learning. I will have access to my email and will be checking my voicemail during the time that we are closed. The direct line to our classroom is 803-476-3875.
Thank you for all your support and hard work during this time of Learning from Home. WE GOT THIS!
