Mrs. Amy Elias

I have been involved in the field of education for the past 29 years.  I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master of Education Degree in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of South Carolina.  I have also completed the required coursework to be certified in the following areas:  Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Special Ed-Learning Disabilities and Special Ed-Early Childhood.  Over the years, I have taught mostly part time in a variety of District Five Schools in various capacities and different age levels, as well as worked as a homebound teacher for special needs students.  I have taught students in grades K-6, however, much of my experience has been working with preschoolers with special needs.  Although this is my third year teaching in the preschool program, I feel as if I have always been part of the Hero family as I worked at HWES from 2006-2011 as an itinerant teacher for the 4K Child Development Program. I am looking forward to working again with our wonderful preschoolers in the Learning to Learn program and to be teaching our 4 year old at home learners during the hybride start to the school year.  I are looking forward to a great year.  I believe that children learn best through play and real life experience and at HWES we will strive to provide an environment in which each child can grow and develop to their fullest potential.

Important Upcoming Dates and News:

As we begin this school year, please know your child's safety is our top priority.  We have taken extra precautions to provide a safe environment for our students with additonal protocols in place for cleaning and sanitizing our classroom and the materials for student use.  Please take time to practice at home with your child to familiarize him/her with wearing a mask as this is currently a requirement on district transportation as well as when on district property.  Please see the policy on masks below.  If you have additional questions, feel free to contact our administrative team.
