I am so excited to be joining the CrossRoads Intermediate School family this year!  I am beginning my 9th year as an administrator in District Five.  Before coming to CRIS, I served as the Assistant Principal for Instruction at both Irmo Middle School and Dutch Fork Middle School as well as the Coordinator of English Language Arts for District Five.  I started my career as a middle school English teacher and spent 12 years as a classroom teacher in grades 5-8.  I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Education from Florida State University, and my Master's Degree in Educational Administration from The University of South Carolina.  I am also the mother of three teenage children.  When I'm not at school, I enjoy being mom and spending time with my family.

I am so proud to be a part of the CrossRoads Intermediate School Family and thrilled to work with all of our students, staff, and parents this year. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns throughout the year.

This is my 17th year in education and my 17th year at CrossRoads. Before my career as an educator, I served in the ARMY as a Military Police Officer.  My military experience afforded me with opportunities to travel and meet people from different backgrounds and cultures. This experience provided me with discipline, organization, and attention to detail that has played an important role in my job as an educator.  I have spent the past 15 years teaching math at CrossRoads so I am familiar with the needs of the students at this age and developmental level.

Education

I earned my Bachelor of Education as well as my Master of Education in Divergent Learning from Columbia College.  I obtained my Gifted and Talented Endorsement from Coastal Carolina. My certification in Educational Leadership and Administration is from Gardner-Webb University.

Interests

My interests include woodworking projects and refurbishing wood furniture.  I enjoy working out and I enjoy being outdoors. I am a HUGE fan of Survivor, tennis, and volleyball.

I am honored to be part of the administrative team at CrossRoads Intermediate.  I look forward to a great school-year, filled with new experiences, new memories, lots of learning, and fun!

I am a first year administrator and this is my first year at CrossRoads Intermediate! I am very excited to join the Cougar family! Prior to being an administrator, I was an 8th grade ELA teacher. I have always strived to give students the best experience and lift their confidence! I taught at Fort Mill, Dutch Fork, and Irmo Middle! I have served as a department chair, coaching teacher for student interns, a trained mentor teacher, and I am a trained Data Team facilitator and trainer for others. In addition, I served as the lead teacher for PBIS, and successfully completed District Five’s Leadership Academy during the 2019-20 school year. Above all, I am an advocate for all students!

In my free time I spend time with my husband (whom I graduated with from Irmo High School) and my two fur children, Bernie (13) and Maggie (9). I love a Lake Murray sunset, a mountain view with a hot cup of coffee, an evening run, and catching up on shows, old and new.

I am excited to serve you and your student(s) during a great year at CRIS!
