My name is Kirsten Gorny, and I am so excited to be your child's AGP teacher this year! This is my fifth year teaching at H.E. Corley, and I'm a firm believer that there is no better place to be--great truly happens at HEC! I graduated from the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. In December, I will have earned my Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning with a specialization in Instructional Coaching. I believe in lifelong learning and that knowing the hearts of children personally and academically fosters authenticity in relationships and instruction.
Irmo is my hometown, and I am a graduate of Dutch Fork High School. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy traveling with my husband Todd, being in nature, being active, and spending time with family and friends. Our dog, Wesley, is the most lovable, goofy little guy I know and loves going on adventures with us. I played soccer all my life and still enjoy playing for fun!
Mrs. Gorny's Favorites:
-Anything blue, green, or pink
-Gamecock football
-Shania Twain with Taylor Swift as a close second!
-Home cooking
-Lounging on the beach in Isle of Palms or hiking a trail in the mountains
-Exercising (Fun Fact: I have run two half-marathons)
-Smells and soaps
-SWEETS! Ice cream, cookies, and cakes, oh my!
I look forward to growing as learners and as a family this year. Teaching is my passion, and I cannot wait to learn alongside your child! 💚💛
