My name is Amy Mew.  I am the Theatre Teacher and Director for the 2021-2022 school year.  Theatre has been a part of my life since I attended Airport High School across town in Lexington Two over 15 years ago.  The greater Columbia area has always been home, and I'm thankful to teach here.

I attended the University of South Carolina after high school and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Theatre and a Masters of Arts in Teaching Theatre Education.  I began my career in the banking world as a banker and customer service representive.  I decided to change careers after one decade in banking and pursue my lifelong dream of teaching Theatre to the next generation.  Having spent over 15 years working with kids and dabbling in all things theatre, I let the enchantment win me over and finally became a Theatre Educator. 

I am married to a wonderful man that actually enjoys my big personality. Together we have 3 amazing girls: Ireland (12), Saylor (10), and Journey (2). I love my Irmo & D5 family.  I am excited to see all the phenomenal art that Irmo Theatre Company will create together this year; soon and very soon it will be SHOWTIME!
