Hello! My name is Geoffrey Purcell and I am the Orchestra Director and Flight / Space Teacher at Chapin Middle School. This will be my 7th year teaching and my third year teaching in South Carolina. I am originally from the Dallas / Fort Worth area and moved to South Carolina in Summer of 2020.
I graduated from Baylor University in Waco, TX with a Bachelor's in Music Education. I was involved with multiple ensembles such as the Baylor University Golden Wave Band, Baylor Trombone Studio, and Courtside Players. My teaching career began in 2016 in Fort Worth ISD in Fort Worth, TX at Young Women's Leadership Academy. I was the Director of Bands and Orchestras for grades 6-12.
I reside in Greenville, SC with my wife Camille and two dogs, Biscuit and Radar. I am an avid runner, cyclist, and disc golf enthusiast!
My professional affiliations are SCMEA (SC Music Educators Association), NAfME (National Association for Music Education), and TODA (Texas Orchestra Directors Association).
To my students and parents - I hope that your experience with the Chapin MS Orchestras and our new Flight / Space class is a great one!
