Mrs. Heather Tucker

Hello!  My name is Heather Tucker and I have spent most of my career in government finance, most recently as the Budget Director for the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).  My financial career started in New York City where I worked for the Office of Management and Budget under Mayor Bloomberg and since then, I have had the opportunity to work for various city and state governments since 2006.  I made the decision to change careers in 2022 after feeling a strong calling to teach and I haven't looked back since!  I love middle school and feel blessed to work with this amazing team at CMS.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Clemson University and a Masters in Public Policy with a concentration in Public Budgeting and Finance from Georgia State University.

My husband, Tyler, is a graduate of Irmo High (and former Yellow Jacket football player). We have been married since 2009 and have lived in District Five since then. We have three boys (Jack, Will and Lee) currently in D5 schools that keep us very busy.  We love all things Clemson and enjoy playing sports, being on the water and just hanging out together.

I am honored to have the opportunity to teach something that I love - Financial Literacy.  I feel that it is our duty to prepare the next generation to be good citizens and responsible stewards of money.

I am also excited to teach Fundamentals of Computing I and II.  This is a high school credit course that explores the history of computers, how they work, coding, website building, internet safety, careers in technology and Artifical Intelligence.

I hope that my role here at Chapin Middle can play a small role in growing your child.  I look forward to working with you and your children this year.
