Hello Families and Friends!

I am thrilled to be a part of the Leaphart 5th grade team this year! After moving to Columbia from the west coast last summer, I have fallen in love with South Carolina - its people, culture, and beautiful landscapes.

Let me share a bit about my background as an educator. With over 20 years of teaching experience, I am well-prepared to make this school year exceptional. I hold a master's degree in Education with a focus on Reading and Literacy from Walden University. And prior to that, I earned a bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on Education from Mills College.  In 2015, I was deeply honored to receive the prestigious "Teacher of the Year" recognition, which celebrated my exceptional leadership as both a teacher leader. Before becoming an Elementary School Teacher, I spent 13 years as a preschool teacher, honing my skills and nurturing young minds.  In my free time, I enjoy painting, gardening, cooking, and spending time with my husband and  2 fur babies. 

I am eager to embark on this exciting journey with the Leaphart 5th grade team. My goal is to utilize my years of experience and genuine passion for education to create an enriching and engaging learning environment for all students.

I cannot wait to meet each one of you and work together to ensure a successful and enjoyable academic year.
