Mrs. April Gaura

The 2021-22 school year is my 24th year in education.  I taught 4-year-old Child Development for 3 years, a multi-age preschool class for 1 year, and was in first grade for 14 years.  This is my sixth year in kindergarten and I love it!  I have been an Oak Pointe Pioneer since the school opened in 2006.  

I graduated from Winthrop University with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  In the fall of 2008, I earned my National Board Certification in the area of Early Literacy.  I completed my Masters in Teaching at the University of South Carolina in 2020.

Teaching young children is both challenging and fun!  The children grow and change so much during the school year!  I consider it a real privilege to teach at OPES and am honored to work with my precious students each day.

My husband and I have 2 daughters and a son.  In my free time I enjoy being outside with my children, traveling, trying new restaurants, and cooking!
