Dear Parents and Students,
I am excited to welcome you to our second grade classroom for the 2023-2024 school year! I am so very honored to be your child's teacher this year. You are your child's first, best teacher, and I am happy to join you in watching your child grow this year.
It has been really wonderful to be on the LMES staff since 2001. This will be my 40th year of teaching. My undergraduate degree is from the University of South Carolina, and my masters' work was done at Piedmont College. I have taught first, second, third and fifth grade. The one thing that I know after spending all of these years in education is that I love to learn, and I love to foster learning in others.
My life away from school is busy. I sing in the church choir at Union United Methodist, and I sing with the Sandlapper Singers. I am a Carolina Gamecock through and through! My dad coached football at Carolina, my brother played soccer there, and I sang in Carolina Alive. Go Gamecocks! When I am not working in our classroom, singing or cheering on the Gamecocks, I enjoy doing crafts, reading and spending time with my dog, Garnet.
I have one son, Christopher, who just got married this summer, so now I finally have a daughter! Christopher is a teacher at Dutch Fork High School. I am very proud that he is teaching and instilling a love of learning in others. I always enjoy any time that I get to spend with him.
I am sure that this will be a wonderful year of exciting learning! I am looking forward to getting to know your child as we move through a great second grade experience!
Ms. Carroll
