Hello Everyone!
I am a first grade teacher here at Seven Oaks Elementary, and I am so excited to work with your little one! While this is my first year at Seven Oaks, this is my sixth year teaching, having taught a year and a half in second grade, and four full years in third grade. I graduated from Coker University in the fall of 2017 with a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. This December, I will graduate with my master's in literacy from Clemson University.
As a teacher, I love integrating hands-on activities into the curriculum, and have a special knack for the arts. I have included art projects such as: character trait silhouettes, papier mache globes, landform bean projects, and natural disaster paper tear projects. I believe that students relate more to the content when they can bring it to life in one form or another.
Personally, I am an avid runner. It is something that relieves stress and provides an outlet for me. I also enjoy reading, writing, and drawing. A goal of mine is to become a published author one day. Additionally, I love to go watch a movie at the theater, or simply get cozy and stream Netflix.
I look forward to a fantastic school year. If you need me, please call the school at (803) 476- 8500 or reach out on Seesaw!
Thanks,
Mr. Byrd
