Welcome to my 2023-2024 class! I am so excited to have each of you involved in my class either as a student or parent! This year will be awesome! This will be a journey that I look forward to taking with all of you.
I wanted to tell you a little about myself. I have been married to my husband, Mike, for 21 years. We have an 18-year-old son, Mikey, who recently graduated from Chapin High School. We also have a son who is 14. His name is Jackson, and he is starting at CHS this year. We also have a Miniature Schnauzer named Leroy.
I am starting my 26th year of teaching. I taught second grade for four years in North Charleston. The rest have been in 3rd grade. Two years were in Newberry at Boundary Street Elementary and three were at Little Mountain Elementary. This will be my 16th year here at LMES.
I graduated from The College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I became a National Board Certified teacher in 2004, and I recertified in 2014. My National Board certification is in Early Childhood Education. I received a Masters of Arts with a specialization in Educational Technology in 2008 through National University in California. I am currently working towards my Masters plus 30.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family on the boat and camping. I enjoy fishing, reading, and gardening. If I could figure out how to do all of those at the same time, I'd be perfectly content!
I know there will be challenges and changes we ALL will face. Let's agree to give each other grace and do our best. I can't wait to meet all of my new students and learn who they are as people. My goal is to partner with you to give them tools to help them be successful in life...not just 3rd grade.
