Mrs. Katie Grant
I have always wanted to be a teacher and am excited to be able to live out my passion. This is my second year at Irmo Elementary School teaching third grade. Previously I have taught 4-year-old preschool, 1st and 2nd grades in both public and private schools. My husband and I have three daughters that have been, or are in, the Irmo schools. My oldest daughter will actually be a freshman in college this year! My other two daughters are in the 7th and 11th grades. And my husband is a professor at the University of South Carolina (in education also). We joke that he teaches the adults and I teach the littles. I wouldn't have it any other way! We have a sweet yorkie named Daisy, four hermit crabs, and a fish. I love to help children find the joy in learning, especially reading, and my favorite thing is to see their "lightbulb moments" happen. The moments when they realize "I can do this!" I am very excited for an amazing year of growing and learning with my new "bees."
