Chapin High School varsity cheer wins Division 5A state championship

IRMO Chapin High School varsity cheer won the South Carolina High School League Division 5A state championship on November 18 at the Colonial Life Arena.

 

Chapin finished with 336.5 points finishing ahead of Lexington High School’s 325. Dutch Fork High finished in 6th place. This is the 17th state title for Chapin Cheerleading. The Eagles have won two of the last three titles. This is coach Vicki Williams’ 16th state title at Chapin.

  

“I am so proud of this team,” said Williams. “These 24 young ladies have an incredible work ethic and commitment to putting excellence on the mat. They have worked for the last nine months to bring the State Title back to Chapin! They truly deserve to be State Champions!”

 

Since competitive cheer became a sport, Chapin is the only high school cheer team to win state titles in 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A divisions.

 

Chapin High School Principal Ed Davis said, “I am so proud of this team!  Their hard work, commitment, and Chapin grit is unmatched. This is an awesome achievement for Chapin High School, the community and our district. We aRe CHAPIN!”
