School District Five names new Chief of Financial Officer

IRMO – Lexington-Richland School District Five has named Marty Rawls the new Chief Finance Officer for the district. Rawls was approved for the new post during a school board meeting on January 25. She replaces Len Richardson, who retired in December.

“I am excited to join the administration and staff in School District Five that not only has a history of excellence but also has exciting plans for the future,” Rawls said. “I look forward to building relationships that focus on providing excellent customer service and providing opportunities for student learning in our ever-changing world.”

Rawls has served as the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Finance in Lexington School District Two since 2017. Rawls also served as the Director of Finance for the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs from 2016-2017, where she managed and approved billing of over $500M of Medicaid revenue annually.

Rawls earned her bachelor of science in business administration in accounting at the University of South Carolina. She earned her Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) certification in 2014.

“In our search for a new Chief of Finance, we were looking for someone with experience and expertise that could continue the excellence in our finance department and Ms. Rawls is the perfect fit,” said Superintendent Dr. Christina Melton. “I would like to welcome her to School District Five as we continue to innovate and lead.”
