School District Five coordinator earns statewide administrator award

IRMO – School District Five Coordinator of Youth and Family Services, Davida Price, has been given the Jeanne Greene Administrator’s Award by the South Carolina Early Childhood Association (SCECA).

The award is given annually to an outstanding person who serves in an administrative position who works for the needs of children in South Carolina.

“I am extremely honored to receive this award,” said Price.  “I do what I do because I love children and families.  My job is to help, as best I can find ways to support my teachers, our students, and our families.  Receiving this award gives me such an amazing feeling but the work I do every day is recognition enough.”

Price is currently the President of SCECA District 7.  She has served in this role for 2 years and in September received District 7 “Member of the Year” honors.

Jamila Anderson, Nursery Road Elementary School teacher, nominated Price for the award. “I believe Mrs. Price is deserving of this award because of her commitment to young people and families. You never have to wonder why she does what she does. It's evident,” Anderson said.

The mission of the SCECA is to enhance knowledge; advance evidence based practices, and provide leadership to increase public understanding and support policy that results in high quality early care and education for every child from birth to age eight in South Carolina.

“Mrs. Davida Price consistently rises above the bar regarding services provided to 4K students and their families,” said Dr. Michael Harris, Chief Planning and Administrative Officer.  “I continue to be exceptionally proud of the work that she and her team provides on behalf of School District Five.”
