Irmo High School named American Heart Association Fit-Friendly Worksite for third straight year
The American Heart Association has awarded Irmo High School the “Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite Achievement Award” for the 3rd time. A huge congratulations to our nurse, Pat Powell.
“We are so excited to be recognized again this year by the American Heart Association as a Fit-Friendly Worksite,” said Irmo High School nurse Patricia Powell, who started the initiative. “The staff at Irmo High School has embraced the culture of a healthy lifestyle and we are going to continue providing the tools for our staff to accomplish these goals.”
Irmo High School principal David Riegel shared his thoughts on the recognition saying, “As we know, teachers have a stressful job. Nurse Powell helps our teachers remain focused on their health by offering health screenings and health tips on a regular basis here at school. She also organizes activities to promote fitness. Our staff has access to our fitness lab and many teachers take advantage of that opportunity as well. We believe this balance of work and fitness creates a positive environment for both our students and our staff. It is such an honor to be recognized by the AHA for the third consecutive year here at Irmo High School!”
