School District Five honored with PEBA Partners award

IRMO –Lexington-Richland School District Five has been named the South Carolina Public Employee Benefits Authority (PEBA) Partners Award for Public School Districts for the second consecutive year.

PEBA Partners is an annual award program that honors employers that demonstrate a dedication to promoting a physically, emotionally and financially healthier workplace.  PEBA strives to recognize employers who are setting the bar for workplace well-being programs across the state.

School District Five Benefits Specialist Caren Carmichael said, “School District Five of Lexington & Richland Counties has continually promoted health and well-being with the efforts and care developed by all of our employees over the years.  The pandemic has brought new challenges and the use of PEBA weblinks and training tools to assist employees in understanding their accounts and options as valued state employees has been paramount.”

Onsite sessions began early last year for district employees with the theme to "Make Your Day Amazing" by understanding the depth of their accounts and the sessions continue virtually.

School District Five Chief Human Resources Officer Dr. Allison Jacques said, "This award is evidence of our District's systems approach to work together to combine wellness, safety, employee benefits, and positive morale and is evidence of our commitment to our superintendent's priority to promote a work and learning environment where students and staff feel safe physically, emotionally, and socially. Caren Carmichael and Debbie Renhack have taken the lead in ensuring that the safety and welfare of employees has continued to be our priority throughout the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic."
