Technology has long played an important role in teaching and learning in School District Five of Lexington & Richland Counties and will play an increased role in fostering learning this school year. This email is aimed at helping families prepare by providing important information about devices and technology support in our district.
All students in grades 5K through 12 in School District Five will receive electronic devices, whether they are enrolled in the district's new Flexible Innovative Virtual Education (FIVE) virtual academy or they are on an in-person (hybrid) schedule.
While many of our secondary students already have Chromebooks from the prior school year, devices will be distributed to elementary students, new students and other students without devices during LEAP Days or in the weeks prior to the start of school. (Schools will provide device pickup details to families.)
FIVE VIRTUAL ACADEMY STUDENTS
FIVE virtual academy students in grades 5K-12 will have their devices for the start of the school year.
HYBRID SCHEDULE DEVICES
Students on hybrid schedules will receive devices.
Students in grades 1-12 will have devices for the start of the school year. Since school plans were distributed last week, the district has secured devices for 1st grade students in addition to the devices that were already planned for 2-12 grade students.
Five-year-old kindergarten students will receive devices after the start of the school year, with anticipated distribution within the first few weeks of school.
