School District Five Beta Clubs named 2021-2022 National Beta Schools of Merit

IRMO – Several Lexington-Richland School District Five Beta Clubs have been named 2021-2022 National Beta Schools of Merit. The schools earned this recognition by offering National Beta to all eligible grades on their campus. National Junior Beta includes grades 4-8 and National Senior Beta includes grades 9-12.

The National Beta School of Merit award is given to honor a club’s dedication and commitment to academic excellence. To achieve this prestigious honor, a school must include members from all eligible grade levels in their Beta club. This year, only 3,380 Beta Clubs across the country received this award.

CrossRoads Intermediate, Chapin Middle, Dutch Fork Middle, Irmo Middle, Chapin High, Dutch Fork High, Irmo High and Spring Hill High all received the honor.

“It’s encouraging to see so many student leaders who are deeply devoted to their academic success and volunteerism in their community,” Kelly Eckstrom, Dutch Fork High School Beta Club Advisor said. “I attribute much of this success to their parents who are steadfastly committed to being involved in their children’s education. Active parents produce strong schools. Congratulations to the club’s members who motivated our Beta Club to win a National Beta School of Merit.”

In a congratulatory letter to the school, Bobby Hart, National Beta Chief Executive Officer said “Thank you for your continued support of National Beta and commitment to developing future leaders!”

"Spring Hill High School is very proud to announce that we have been named a 2021-2022 National Beta School of Merit,” Beta Club Sponsor Hannah Carnes said. “With nearly 630 members in good standing, our students are achieving great things while serving our school community.  We look forward to continuing to celebrate these students in the upcoming school year, and are excited to find ways in which to extend our opportunities to serve the community! It is the Spring Hill WAY"

Chapin High School’s Beta sponsor Janis Morgan said, “The National Beta Club continues to offer awards and scholarships for individual students, club sponsors, and schools. As an 11 year sponsor for Senior Beta Club, I have seen these opportunities increase each year. Earning the School of Merit recognition demonstrates Chapin High's dedication and commitment to excellence in academics and arts.”

With more than 500,000 active members and 9,000 chapters nationally and internationally, National Beta has become the nation’s largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization. National Beta recognizes outstanding achievement, promotes character and social responsibility, encourages service involvement to school and community, and fosters leadership skills. The National Beta program offers over $300,000 annually to its Senior Beta Members.
