School District Five announces suspension of JV, other non-varsity sports during winter break; Varsity sports to continue
Lexington-Richland School District Five will temporarily suspend sub-varsity winter sports and activities for junior varsity teams, B-teams, C-teams and other non-varsity teams December 20 through the end of winter break.
The suspension of sub-varsity sports and activities include practices, conditioning/workouts, and game competition. Varsity sports teams will continue to compete and train outdoors, and the district will continue to monitor COVID-19 considerations to make determinations regarding sports activities.
School District Five adheres to safety measures that have been put into place by the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) and the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL), which includes pre-workout screenings of athletes and coaches, facilities cleanings, social distancing for staff and students in each designated area or facility (inside or outside), and workouts that will be conducted in “groups” of athletes with the same athletes working out together weekly to limit overall exposures.
Student-athletes in junior varsity teams, B-teams, C-teams and other non-varsity teams will receive additional details from their coaches and/or school administrators.
