School District Five Board approves 2023-2024 school year calendar
IRMO –The Lexington-Richland School District Five Board of Trustees approved the 2023-2024 Year-Round Modified Academic Calendar during its meeting on Monday, December 12.
The calendar has school beginning for students on August 15, 2023 and ending on May 31, 2024. The district will have a Fall Break again during the 2023-2024 school year, October 13, 2023 will be staff development and teacher work day, while schools and offices will be closed on October 16, 2023.
“School District Five surveyed families, faculty, staff and community members about various calendar options,” said Superintendent Dr. Akil E. Ross, Sr. “Producing the calendar involves balancing requirements from the state, as well as the input from all stakeholders in order to best suit the needs of students, staff and our School District Five community.”
Other notable calendar features include:
- Thanksgiving Break: November 22-24, 2023
- Winter Break: December 18-January 1, 2024
- Spring Break: March 29- April 5, 2024
(*December 18 through December 21 and March 29 are work days for 240-day employees)
Half days will be reserved for the last three days of the 2023-24 school year. Half days for students include May 29, May 30 and May 31, 2024 (the last day of school for students). Possible severe weather make-up days are also included in the calendar that was approved by the Board.
