Beth Hutchison has been actively involved in School District Five for over 25 years.  She has volunteered in the classroom, served as PTO president at Harbison West Elementary, chaired Irmo High's School Improvement Council, and served as the chair of the successful 1996 District Five School Bond referendum resulting in new classrooms and renovated facilities across the District.  She has served as the secretary, vice chairman and chairman of the School District Five Board of Trustees and on several district-wide committees.


Ms. Hutchison is student-focused, a champion for early childhood education, an advocate for environmental sustainability and awareness, a supporter of the District's magnet school programs and a strong advocate for the teachers and staff.  She especially enjoys watching each District Five student receive their diploma from Irmo, Dutch Fork, Chapin, and Spring Hill high schools.


Ms. Hutchison spent her career working in higher education. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism with a Public Relations focus and a Master's degree in Public Administration, both from the University of South Carolina. She has two children, both of whom graduated from Irmo High School.
